Title-CPW-FED Ultra Wideband Slot Antennas
Overview:
The unlicensed UWB spectrum 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz was released in the year 2002 by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for
commercial purposes. UWB, a short pulse communication system, gets much attention among the researchers due to its inherent
properties of low power consumption, high data rate, and simple configuration. With the rapid developments of such UWB systems,
a lot of attention is being given to design the UWB antennas. Designing an antenna to operate in the UWB band is quite a challenge
because it has to satisfy the requirements such as ultra wide impedance bandwidth, omni directional radiation pattern, constant gain,
high radiation efficiency, constant group delay, low profile, easy manufacturing, etc . In this Project four different slot antennas
fed with coplanar waveguide are proposed to operate in the UWB frequency. The antennas are cheap, compact in size and measured
results shows that the antennas are suitable for UWB environments.
Title - Ultra Wideband Antenna with Notched Design
Overview:
One of the major problems associated with the UWB system is the interference from the other narrow band communication systems, such
as WiMAX (3.3 GHz - 3.7 GHz), IEEE 802.11a (5.15 GHz - 5.35 GHz and 5.725 GHz - 5.825 GHz), and HYPERLAN/2 (5.15 GHz - 5.35 GHz and
5.47 GHz - 5.825 GHz), which are operated in the portion of UWB band. However, to effectively utilize the UWB spectrum and to improve
the performance of the UWB system, it is desirable to design the UWB antenna with dual band rejection. It will help to minimize the
interference between the narrow band systems with the UWB system. In this project, a new method is proposed to obtain the dual
band rejection of frequency bands for WiMax, WLAN 802.11a, and HYPERLAN/2 systems. The WiMax frequency band is rejected by inserting
a half wavelength 'U' slot in the ground plane at a center frequency of 3.5 GHz, and another 'U' type half wavelength slot at a
frequency of 5.5 GHz is inserted in the triangular tuning stub to reject the desired WLAN frequency band.
Title - UWB Antenna with reconfigurable rejection bands
Overview:
As Ultra wideband (UWB) systems share the spectrum with the HIPERLAN/2 and the wireless local area network (WLAN) applications; an
UWB antenna with reconfigurable band-rejection characteristic is highly desirable . To effectively utilize and to meet the different
conditions of notch bands for different standards, a reconfigurable UWB antenna is required. In this project an antenna is proposed
to achieve the reconfiguration of different notch band. Reconfiguration of the notch bands is achieved by inserting slot in the
ground plane and by using only two diodes. This method is simple and unique.
Title - Advanced RF Lab
Overview:
AICTE Granted Rs 10 Lakhs under "MODROBS - Modernization of Communication Engineering Laboratory". Under this project many new
experiments like Modeling and simulation of different types of Antennas, filters Analysis, antenna radiation in the proximity of
other structures, etc can be conducted. It can greatly help in increasing the scope of old experiments conducted like Analysis of
circular planar arrays, impedance matching with smith chart etc. The students can get awareness about latest development in
technology for electromagnetic simulation of electrically large structures, modeling of trees, foliage and complex scenarios,
comparison of simulated and measured results of antennas, filters, amplifiers, power dividers and combiners etc.,
