The Department of Civil Engineering of M.A.M. College of Engineering hosted the 8th National Level Technical Symposium– ‘CONSTRA 2018’on 21st August 2018. Mr.Naushath Ali, Vice President, Financial Systems and Development, Etisalat, U.A.E. was the Chief Guest and Mr.S. Anand,President of CREDAI,Trichy and also Managing Director of Jeyam Builders was the Guest of Honour. Dr.M.A.MohamedNizam, Secretary and Correspondent presided over the Inauguration. Professor U.S.Sarvadayaparan, Director,MAMCE and Dr.S. Ravimaran, Principal,MAMCE felicitated the gathering.
In the Inaugural Address, Mr.Naushath Ali invited the Civil Engineering students must apply the theoretical knowledge in the practical field. He highlighted the emerging technologies in Civil Engineering quoting examples from the major on – going projects abroad, indicating their infrastructure facilities. He also motivated the students to understand their responsibility and give due respect to teachers and parents. Mr.S. Anand explained the importance of Civil Engineering in thedevelopmental activities like bridges,dams, etc., He also said that the students must undergo more technical trainings during their course or during their semester holidays to improve their practical knowledge. He also added that the students must apply new technologies like Civil related Softwares in doing their projects so that they can face the Interviews boldly even before completing the course. Dr.M.A.Mohamed Nizam in his Presidential Address, insisted that the students need to design their dreams and transform it into reality .
From 24 Engineering colleges across the state 133 Students participated in the Technical and non-Technical events like Paper presentation, Poster presentation,Technical Quiz,CADD Drawing,Survey Hunt,Structural Modeling andModel Making.
In the Valedictory function by Prof.U.S.Sarvadayaparan,Director,and Dr.S.Ravimaran,Principal,MAMCE appreciated the efforts taken by the Department and congratulated the prize winners.Students from different Colleges shared their valuable experience in CONSTRA’18. Prof. T. Sathya, Head, Department of Civil Engineering proposed the vote of thanks.
